As a football fan I was saddened to awaken to the news that Oakland Raiders owner, Al Davis, had passed away. He was 82. Immediately I thought of my late father who was an avid Oakland Raiders fan[atic]. I drew back to my early days of Raiders Starter jackets and knit caps.

Under Davis’ ownership — since 1976 — the Oakland Raiders won a plethora of division championships and 3 Super Bowls. Being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992, Davis made significant contributions to the game of football. His infamous motto “Just Win Baby” will forever live on in Raider Nation. The football world has indeed lost a pioneer.
