Daytime television icon Jeanne Cooper passed away this morning, in Los Angeles, California. Cooper was recently admitted back into the hospital, and had long been battling an undisclosed illness.
Best known for her role as Katherine Chancellor on the soap opera, The Young and the Restless, Cooper portrayed the Genoa City matriarch for nearly forty years. She was renowned around the world.

Cooper, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2008. She was 84.
